FocusForge was built in just 12 hours with a 4-person team, but the idea behind it came from a real frustration: most productivity tools track time without helping you understand how that time was actually spent. We wanted to build something more reflective, something that could turn a focus session into usable insight instead of just another timer log.
The result was a Chrome extension that helps users track sessions, spot interruptions, and improve routines over time. We built the experience around background scripts, notifications, and the Chrome Storage API, allowing the extension to log across tabs, preserve session data, and prompt users to reflect after each block of work. On top of that, we integrated the Gemini API so those reflections could turn into personalized productivity feedback rather than static summaries.
What made FocusForge feel complete was the product polish. Even under hackathon time pressure, we were able to ship a consistent Figma-driven UI, a clear session flow, and an MVP that felt honest about what productivity improvement actually requires: not just timing your work, but learning from it.
