Case study
HireTune AI came out of a problem that nearly every student job seeker knows too well: tailoring your resume for every application is exhausting, but skipping that step usually makes the application weaker. We built HireTune at HackUSF 2025 as a way to help applicants produce stronger, more targeted submissions faster, without spending hours manually rewriting the same resume for every role.
The platform combined a React frontend with a Django backend and the OpenAI API to generate ATS-aligned resume drafts in under 10 seconds. We also built in live AI edits so users could refine specific sections quickly, then added a LaTeX-based PDF pipeline for one-click export into consistent, polished templates. That combination made the product feel much more useful than a simple text generator.
We pushed the project further by adding Discord OAuth and a built-in job tracker, so users could manage different tailored resume versions per role instead of treating each application as a disconnected document. Built in 36 hours with a 4-person team and containerized with Docker, HireTune felt like a real product MVP rather than just a hackathon prototype.
